My Dear I Wanted To Tell You

Thought I'd take this chance to post up this picture:

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?
So I guess you can say that this is me coming out. I am bisexual.

The Top Ten

I know it's damn near impossible for me to choose my top ten films of all time, so for now here is how they stand currently. First off what do I look for in a film to make it enjoyable, well I personally prefer well thought out plot, deep characters you can feel emotionally attached to and writing that makes you believe every moment. Oh and of course I can't do without the odd bit of good cheese and something that makes me blub my eyes out! So here's the top ten:

10 - Perfume - Story Of A Murderer

This is an incredible film, slightly weird but full of some ethereal depth I've never seen in a film before. The cinematography and location choice is simply stunning.

9 - Titanic

Okay call me a cheese loving sissy but I just love this film, has me reaching for the tissues every time.  I love the parallels you can draw from the film to modern day events. Yes, it's corny but who doesn't enjoy a good corny cry in the corner every once in a while. Oh and did I mention it's coming out again in the cinemas on my birthday!!!!

8 - V For Vendetta

Seriously underrated film this one, tells much of what the government could become if the public are not careful. I'm not one for politics much but this film is tragically phenomenal and emotionally uplifting.

7 - The Green Mile

I challenge you not to cry at this film, the story verges on the supernatural but just ever so slightly so you still believe everything. And of course the helplessness of the death row guards just makes you emotionally raw.

6 - Inglorious Basterds

Quirky but at the same time horrific. The performances my multiple actors in this film are second to none, Also Tarantino has a knack for hitting all the right buttons as far as script and plot are concerned. The scene with the projector room makes me die with happiness inside whenever I watch it.

5 - Love Actually

My favourite Rom-Com a must watch at christmas. Outstanding performances again from all actors and actresses but my favourite out of all the fascinating interweaving stories has to be Emma Thompson's role. Played to perfection... and it got me into the legend that is Joni Mitchell.

4 - Lost and Delirious

Again, not a very well known film at all, and some may call over melodramatic but recently I can't stop watching this film. The performances are so alive and yes it's corny with the odd bit of Shakespeare thrown in but who cares!? I read the book it was based on recently and found it bares hardly any resemblance. In all honesty I prefer this film so much more.

3 - The Hours

Literally just finished watching this film and what can I say... Love love love it! The twist at the end made me  sit with my mouth open for a good 10 minutes. Stunning. Just stunning.

2 - The Pianist

This film is so raw and effortless it's unreal. I can watch this again and again and never fully comprehend its incredibleness. The scene with the piano... OH don't get me started!!! GO WATCH IT NOW! :)

1 - Schindler's List

I have only seen this film once. But I sat there for three hours solid with my eyes transfixed on the screen. My attention was held purely out of the blissful cinematography, the beautiful script, the stunning plot and the amazing character of Schindler. All I can say is I'm going to savour every single time I watch this film from now on. And that is why it has got to no1. Spielberg you god.

Saturday 28 January 2012

I shall make me a willow cabin at your gate and call upon my soul within the house; Write loyal cantons of contemned love and sing them loud even in the dead of night; Halloo your name to the reverberate hills and make the babbling gossip of the air cry out 'Victoria!'

HOW TO MAKE A GRYFFINDOR QUIDDITCH UNIFORM TUTORIAL

This project has been a long time in the making!

I'm not a huge artsy sewing person so I wanted to figure out the easiest way to create a Harry Potter Gryffindor Quidditch Uniform for under £100 ($155)

Being quite small in stature I figured the many kids harry potter costumes out there would fit me but I doubted they had the quality I was looking for.

So trawling through ebay to find red and yellow garments I found that hardly any exist, it's as if red and yellow as a colour combo is a no no! Finaly I found the spannish football shirt (2007ish) was a likely candidate. Simply sew the gryffindor badge over the top and there you go.

The rest was pretty easy to source. I figured jodhpurs would make a good quidditch trouser as riding a broom can be likened to riding a horse (in the areas of chaffing etc ;) )
As for pads the closest and cheapest I could find were in black but if push came to shove could always spray them with some brown paint.

Should probably add my uniform is very much unfinished as of yet and I made this tut whilst waiting for the sweater to arrive from america :)

Once it's done i'll post up :)
